History
The Smeal Student Council is an evolution of what used to be known as the Business Student Council and the Business Roundtable. The organizations have rich histories, known for hosting quality events such as “Are You Smarter Than A Company?”, channeling thousands of dollars to student events, and working with administration on lasting changes such as improvements to the physical infrastructure of the Business Building. BSC and BRT have existed for several decades with varying functions as executive teams changed. Notable alumni include Will Olson, Tonia Damiano and Marissa Presser.
The Smeal Student Council (SSC) in its current structure was formed at the beginning of 2014 under the leadership of President Evan Fisher. Fisher led a merger between Smeal’s two student governments; creating a single, unified force. The merger implementation occurred throughout 2014, seeing complete overhauls of the Constitution and changing the name to Smeal Student Council. The SSC remains diligent on its Mission: to unify students and improve the school.
